3、with35S-methionine,3H-leucineand3H-glucosamineinde-embryonatedchickeneggs.Approximately12differentpolypeptideswereclearlydetectedbySDS-polyacrylamidegelelectrophoresisofviruspreparations.GrowthofIBVinchorioallantoicmembranecellslabelledwith35S-methionineindicatedthatmostofthesepolypepti

4、des,andadditionalones,someofwhichweregtycosylated,werehostcomponents.Fivepolypeptidesappearedtobevirus-coded,withapparenttool.wt.of94x103,84x103,54x103,30×103and28×103.Fourofthese,p94,p84,p30andp28,wereglycosylated.Thevirionspikesappearedtobecomposedofp94andp84,whilep30andp28werepartial

6、relletal.,1978forreferences)andissurroundedbyalipidenvelopewithwhichareassociatedthelarge,club-shapedsurfaceprojections(spikes)characteristicofthecoronaviruses.Thepolypeptidecompositionofseveralmammaliancoronaviruseshasbeendetermined,namelyhumancoronavirus(HCV)strains229E(Hierholzer,197

7、6:Macnaughton,1980)andOC43(Hierholzeretal.,1972),transmissiblegastroenteritisvirus(TGEV)ofpigs(Garwes&Pocock,1975;Garwesetal.,1976),haemagglutinatingencephalomyelitisvirus(HEV)ofpigs(Pocock&Garwes,1977),mousehepatitisvirus(MHV)strainsA59(Sturman,1977;Bondetal.,1979),JHM(Wegeetal.,1979:B

8、ondetal.,1979)andMHV3(Macnaughton,1980).Ingeneral,thepolypeptidesofthesecoronavirusescanbeassignedtofoursize-classes(Sturman,1977).Mol.wt.rangesof130×103to200x103and89x103to125x103characterizepolypeptidesinsize-classesoneandtworespectively.Polypeptidesofboththeseclassesareglyco
