3、irusesthatcausedifferentdiseasesinmice.Antiserapreparedbyimmunizationofmicewiththeindividualvirusesweretestedfortheirabilitytoneutralizeboththehomologousimmunogenandtheotherviruses.Byaplaquereductionneutralizationtest,eachantiserumwasfoundtobespecifi

4、cfortheimmunizingvirus;however,therewassubstantialcross-reactivity,indicatingtheviruseswerecloselyrelated.Bykineticneutralization,twoofthevirusestested,MHV-JtIMandMHV-2,werefoundtobeantigenicallydistinct.MHV-3andMHV-A59werefoundtobeantigenieallyverys

5、imilarbutdistinct.Thesedatashowthatkineticneutralizationisamoreprecisemethodfordeterminingtheantigenicrelationshipsbetweenmurinecoronaviruses.IntroductionMousehepatitisviruses(MHV)aremembersofthecoronavirusgroupofenveloped,positive-strandedRNAviruses

6、(6,10).5IHVparticlesarebasicallycomposedofthreeproteins,amajorenvelopegIycoprotein(gp90/180),aminorenvelopeglycoprotein(gp25),andaphosphorylatednucleocapsidprotein(pp60)(10).Ingeneral,MHVinfectionresultsinapersistentinfectioninthegastro-intestinaltra
